The Mini-Retreat Solution, Julia James
This is an excellent volume absolutely loaded with great tips for creating relaxation and calm in the midst of our busy lives. The Mini-Retreat Solution shows you how even a few minutes of practice will help you relax, refresh, and create a supportive environment for a more relaxed way of life. Go to www.juliajames.ca and check this out!

Visionary Business, Marc Allen
This is a terrific book that speaks to the human values we hold dearest and how to apply them to our businesses. Written in the popular “narrative fable” style, it’s a smooth but powerful read, well-structured and formatted for impact and retention. The epilogue is headed:  “The ultimate purpose of visionary business is to transform the world by doing what you love to do.”  I couldn’t have said it better myself!

Attracting Perfect Customers, Stacey Hall and Jan Brognicz
The authors of this little gem turn a lot of commonly-held perceptions about sales upside-down.  They believe you can make your own luck, and that the marketing and sales process can be an absolutely positive experience. They lay out a structured process for defining, attracting, and serving your perfect customers. This book is loaded with great tips on how to be powerfully attractive to the people you most want to serve--an inspiring and practical read.

The Myth of Stress, Andrew Bernstein
As a coach, I am fully aware of the power of perspective shifts. Andrew Bernstein takes that concept and creates a hugely practical and effectively structured approach to dealing with how we react to what we call “stressful” situations in our lives. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who feels overwhelmed and constantly battling stress. It takes some work, but following Bernstein’s process can make a permanent difference in dealing with our programmed reactions in the face of life’s challenges. Very good!

Taming Your Gremlin, Richard D. Carson
This classic guide to fulfillment has been extensively revised, and re-issued this year. It is the perfect book for anyone who is being held back by limiting self-beliefs. Carson shows you how to step back from the entanglements of your life and notice what is really going on. If you truly want to understand how to get into a position of powerful choice, and have fun doing it, this little book is for you. Highly recommended!

A Short Guide to a Happy Life, Anna Quindlen
What does it mean to "get a life"? This Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and columnist originally wrote this as a commencement speech to the graduating class of a U.S. college, and she has expanded it (slightly) to create this tiny gem. She speaks intimately and eloquently about her life, and about why we need to lead full lives, real lives, every day. This is the type of book you will come back to again and again.

Take Time for Your Life, Cheryl Richardson
Long-time international life coach Cheryl Richardson presents a seven-step program for taking control of your life. The themes are basic: stepping back, noticing what's going on, identifying alternatives, and choosing the ones that will lead to a meaningful, fulfilling life. This is a solid, practical book - you can work through the program alone, or, better yet, with your coach!

Leadership from the Inside Out, Kevin Cashman
This book is sub-titled "Becoming a Leader for Life", and the focus is really on the "being" of leadership, rather than the "doing". To become a powerful and effective leader, who do you have to become? What knowledge of yourself do you need to possess? Cashman promotes being aware, actively choosing - sound familiar? A fine, detailed and structured guide to changing who you are as a person, on the way to having the leadership outcomes you want.
